Chevron Wainscoting

My head is still spinning... DIY chevron wainscoting created from stock beadboard.  Janelle Steinberg from Maison Classique is responsible for this brilliant design!  I hope she does not mind if  I borrow this idea for a ceiling.

Simply smashing!!! To view all the details click here.

Casual Friday: Fabric Fondness

Selecting fabric is one of my favorite pastimes.  Hue, texture, design, material ...the possibilities are infinite.  If I had to devote my life to one particular inanimate object, the choice would be simple: fabric!  One might classify my affinity for textiles as a disorder (one being my husband).  Here are some I'm currently coveting.

"I like to create libraries where men with names like Howard, Bing and Spencer sat in cashmere sweaters and contemplated the 13th hole on the Bel Air golf course. La Maison d'Hermes

Koto Bolofo, the South African born and British raised photographer, was granted unprecedented access to the iconic house of Hermes.  The documentation of his seven years ensconced in the elusive world of Hermes birthed La Masionan eleven volume collection.  From silk to leather to equine Bolofo chronicles every facet of the historic brand.  This anthology has moved to the top of my CDJ list.

Perfect Summer Home Kitchens

Each of these S.R. Gambrel kitchens use every fixture, material, appliance, tile, marble, range hood, color (the list goes on and on) perfectly!  Either would work marvelously in my Summer home.  (Please note my tone is sarcastic.)

The New South

I am not a hoarder, per se.  I prefer to categorize myself as a collector.  Editing is a talent of mine, but I find it difficult to part with inspiring images.  Hence the growing library of shelter magazines weighing down my bookshelves.

Once our decision to move to Richmond was final, I purchased a subscription to Richmond Magazine.  R Home is the lifestyle extension of the previously mentioned.  The March/April 2009 issue of R Home features the tranquil haven of interior designer Jenny Andrews.  After 3 years I still love the fresh take on the traditional space.

These are pictures I took with my iPhone from the actual magazine:

Upholstering

How wonderful it was to vacate our lives for the past week.  Returning to reality is harder than expected, possibly due to the gloomy freezing weather welcoming us home.

First order of business - find fabric to reupholster two chairs in my living room.  Here is a handy guide I came across to help determine the amount of fabric necessary for the job.

Just for Fun

Here is an imaginary living room design board I quickly put together.  This is what I do to pass the time when there is nothing on TV but football.

Additionally, I would add antiqued mirror paneling to the ceiling, similar to this wall

Gaga for Green

I am green with envy... (pardon the pun.)

My boys' bed room has a Kelly green campaign chest, but I would like to add another hit of emerald green somewhere. One of these pillows may be the perfect touch.

I am off to enjoy another color - turquoise.  That is the turquoise waters of Turks and Caicos.  See you when I return. Happy weekend!
