First Impressions

Most houses have potential.  Finding the right eye to uncover the possibilities is the key.  Architect Ross Piper accomplished just that for this Atlanta cottage.

My favorite part: the rear exterior.
The porch really unifies the entire back of the house.  I would LOVE to do something similar in my back yard.

Splendid Summer Home

Take a gander at this beautiful Nantucket home by Matthew Sapera Fine Homes.

Classic whitewashed shingles.

Love the paneled walls and ceiling in this all white living room with dark wood accents.

Continued the neutral color palette in the foyer.

More of that fab ceiling.

LOVE.

You can never go wrong with classic navy and white.

Simple details like arched/rounded doorways and built-ins have a big impact.

Simple and serene bedroom.

Grass between pavers make makes me smile.

The Gray House

Whew... last week was anything but paradisaical. Thankfully we are safe and fared no major damage. The dawn of this last week of summer recess is meet with high expectations.  Thus far the weather is exceeding the forecast and my vacation read is a page-turner.

No week would be complete without some decorating decisions.  First on the docket is a paint color for my mom's bare brick house.  The freshly repainted white trim, black shutters and black front door should complement the foremost contender - Benjamin Moore's "stonington gray".  Below is the look we wish to accomplish.

Blue Doors

A front door is like a first impression.  It's essential to be alluring and well kept, yet demure enough as to not overshadow what lies beyond the threshold.

I would love to know what's behind any of these doors.  For years, my dream is a version of robin's egg blue front door.  The following four are my top choices of the bunch.  Take a closer look...

While the door itself is not blue, the glossy black door and turquoise trim is a killer combo -Kristen Buckingham's store

I love to hear from you.  What color is your front door?  Any favorites?
