Going Green

Yesterday I declared my Irish pride and promised a collection of green items for the home. One mustn't have relatives from the Emerald Isle or be a card-carrying Rainbow Warrior to incorporate a touch o' green at home.  Go bold by hanging grasscloth wallpaper or dip your toe in the green pool by adding a pop o' color in the kitchen.  Either way you are sure to be lucky!

Luck Be A Lady

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays.  Possibly because it's the only day of the year when red hair is admired? Perhaps it's the camaraderie shared among pasty white, freckled people and the rest of the non-pigment impaired human race?   Perchance it's the gathering of family and friends in observance of our heritage?  While all of these ideas are good and true, I simply love St. Paddy's Day because it's all about libations and merriment!

If you are unlike my family that has a bagpiper, dermatologist  and mixologist on call, here are some ways to incorporate a wee bit o' green in your life, without breaking out the light-up shamrock necklaces or "Kiss-Me I'm Irish" tee shirts.

Tomorrow, I will share some green ideas for the home.  (The color, not environmentally friendly items I'm afraid.)

Cheers!

Holiday Room of the Day

I am OBSESSED with the holiday season.  What does that mean?  Brace yourself for Christmas image overload during the month of December.

Today I am obsessed with this citrus Christmas tree by the fabulous Tobi Fairley.  Those chairs are CDJ worthy as well!

Holiday Cottage

What's cozy and contemporary and Christmassy all over?
Ballard Designs’ creative director Jill Sharp Brinson's 1930's Atlanta cottage.

It evokes a cozy Cotswold's feeling, while remaining fresh. The dash of glamour is the cherry on top!  To view more images of the home, click here.

Holiday Room of the Day

{via}

Why I love it? What's not to love about books in a dining room?
The chairs.
The built-ins
The nook for the side board.
The lantern.
The hanging wreathes.
The console table.
The velvet covered stools.
The symmetry of the mirrors on either side of the doorway.

Cheers!

Thanksgiving Centerpieces

I am a firm believer that a center piece and the tablescape are as important as the food itself. Here is some stunning inspiration from my favorite florist in the world, Helen Olivia. (I may be a bit biased since I worked there, but they truly have an amazing section and a creative, talented team.)

So whether you are going to make your own arrangement or commission one, be sure to stop by Helen Olivia.  Tell Craig and Marianne "Elizabeth says Hello!"

Chinoiserie Christmas Tree

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that the Christmas decorations descended from the attic on Sunday afternoon.  My justification for the early decking of the halls: I want to wrap myself in holiday cheer the moment we return from Thanksgiving.  This way we will only have to buy the main Christmas tree and hang the outdoor lights, wreaths, etc.   I did my best to get pictures of my "tree", but what a tricky task.

White pre-lit branches in a blue and white vase my mom bought me on a trip to China.

Artificial orchid I wired onto the branches.

White Peacock resting on a branch

White and silver butterflies

Hung small and large white glass ornaments

Tomorrow I hope to hang the garland on the banister.  Stay tuned.

Cheers!
Elizabeth
