Hardware Stores

Shopping at a small or independently owned hardware store is like walking into the past.  Tucked in the narrow aisles are knowledgeable clerks who can help you find just about anything.  House Beautiful's June 2011 issue features an article entitled "101 Finds from the Hardware Store." On HB's website the have the following sampling with some clever ideas for use, but I recommend you also check out the print version. (Plus there are lots of great articles and photographs in the issue.)

Some of my favorite hardware store purchases include white ceramic outdoor pots, my floral sheers, a Greek key doormat, and spray paint (which has incidentally changed my life).   What are you favorite hardware finds?

Cheers!

It's a Friday. It's hot. You are stuck in the office and all you want to do is hop in the car to beat the beach traffic.  If you can't focus on work and need to pass the time check out my CDJ's and the afternoon will breeze by.

Thanks to Matchbook Magazine I recently discovered the artist Bella Foster.  Love her subjects and brush strokes!

Check out the rest of her work here.

Have you visited Live. Like. You.?  The clever shop divided up items according to personality and space.  Here are some examples...

To view the "Glamour Girl Closet" click here.

Casual Friday: Furbish Finds

For those of you who have not had a chance to visit the online store Furbish Studio you are in for a treat!  If you are in the Raleigh, NC area you can check out the shop in person.  I am head down to North Carolina in a few weeks and trying to figure out how I can fit this into the travel itinerary.

Covet du Jour: Furbish Studio.  Here are some of my favorite items the boutique is currently offering

  1. Love the Spotted Turquoise Tray, which is offered in 4 different colors.  I have one in black.  Great on any entry table to hold keys, glasses, etc.
  2. The owl pitcher is offered in two different sizes.  The small one in my kitchen usually functions as a bottle brush holder, but if the mood strikes me, I fill it with some pretty blooms.
  3. The Navy Geometric Lamp is adorable!  My mom has it in one of her guest rooms.  It's a great value at just $85.
  4. I do not have the pink starfish bangle, but it would make a great addition to my summer wardrobe!
  5. The black and white Birdcage Pillow is a perfect way to add a contemporary twist to any space.
  6. Who doesn't need a little Chiang Mai (tray) in their life?
  7. The Teal Scales Linen Pillow is offered in two additional colors.  Decisions, Decisions...
  8. The Orange Chevron Frame could add a pop of color to your home.
  9. I am contemplating replacing a brand new lamp in my family room with the Black Viceroy Lamp, but my husband may kill me...
  10. The Speckled Rockfish Pillow is darling.
  11. The delicate Pink Lotus votive would be a nice addition to a bookshelf, side table or porch.
  12. Can we discuss the trim on the Vintage Camelback Sofa...
  13. You may find the blue and white Geo Nesting Bowls on my desk or a side table, holding odds and ends.
  14. Love the Apple Green Gourd Vase.  I have one in white and it's perfect for a single bloom, such as a peony in the springtime.
  15. Yellow makes me smile and so does the fringe on the St. Thomas Yellow Pillow.
  16. Navy and pink and Greek key oh my!  What's not love about about this bolster pillow!
  17. A set of the Spot Coasters would make a delicious hostess gift.
I have a baby shower this weekend for my dear friend Betsy.  We don't know if she's having a boy or girl, but I have a feeling he/she will be a rock star like big-sister-to-be baby Elle.

Happy Weekend!

Cheers!

PS -  Many thanks to MMC, my personal artist, for putting together the Furbish collage!

Boutiques: Wisteria

It's been awhile since I visited the Wisteria website, so I clicked on to see what's new and visit some old favorites.

In college, I went abroad to Florence so I have a soft spot for all things Firenze.  Imagine a series of these Medici Cameo pictures above a crib in a sophisticated nursery?

This French Honeycomb Mirror would glitz up any foyer or dining room.

I fancy this Chinese Chippendale Chair, available in 3 different colors.

This Acrylic Side Table is the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary.  Perfect to keep a space open and airy.

Even though this sofa's already had quite a bit of acclaim, it's too pretty to exclude.

This Greek Key Dhurrie Rug would make a great addition to a porch or sitting room.

Cheers!

Boutiques: Material Love

A number months ago I stumbled upon an incredible online store, Iomoi - today's CDJ.  The cyber shop has everything from coasters to canvas bag and much more.  Allow me to show you.  The images will speak for themselves (but I'll add my two cents as well).

Style up your snail mail with these swank address labels.

Perfect canvas tray for a casual den/family room (where I would put mine) or sunny porch.  Decisions, decisions...

Lovely lucite trays - ideal for a desk!

Perfect Plates for backyard summertime soirees.

I've selected this as my beach/pool/boat whatever bag for this summer, but how on Earth will I narrow it down to just one design????

OK OK OK... I have got to get a hold of myself!  Apologies for the image overload, but you agree that the design choices are fab?  It's requiring quite a bit of self restraint to bring this post to a close. I just can't get enough of these colorful and charming motifs...

If you are able to narrow your design choice down to one I would love to see what makes the cut!  See you back here tomorrow for Casual Friday.

Cheers!
