Table for Two

Do you have an opinion on a dining room with two tables?  I am torn. Is it too impersonal or really brilliant?

I was admiring some luxury real estate, stumbled upon this dining room (via) and it got me thinking...

This concept works well for a dining nook.  via

This seems like a hotel to me.  via

Same feeling here... Is this a charming inn? via

This dining room designed by Jeffery Bilhuber is on a whole different level - maybe estate or chateau.  I do appreciate the two defined spaces.

This dining room table (designed by Markham Roberts, via House Beautiful)  may be the perfect compromise.  Pushed together a party of eight can dine; then separate the tables and you have room for 16 dinner guests.

Which side of the table are you on?

Cheers!
Elizabeth

"Even in a formal dining room you don't want to be ponderous or gloomy. Eating is really one of your indoor sports. You play three times a day, and it's well worthwhile to make the game as pleasant as possible."  Dorothy Draper
