Big News

One of the many reasons posting has been rather light... the CDJ household is moving back to DC.  Between finding a house, schools, etc. I've nearly lost my mind.  Thankfully we found the perfect house, with great bones.  In fact, the endless supply of project opportunities keeps me up at night.  Literately.

In anticipation of the move and to earn a little pocket change...

Splendid Summer Home

Take a gander at this beautiful Nantucket home by Matthew Sapera Fine Homes.

Classic whitewashed shingles.

Love the paneled walls and ceiling in this all white living room with dark wood accents.

Continued the neutral color palette in the foyer.

More of that fab ceiling.

LOVE.

You can never go wrong with classic navy and white.

Simple details like arched/rounded doorways and built-ins have a big impact.

Simple and serene bedroom.

Grass between pavers make makes me smile.

Cheers!

Bargain Hunter

Finding a great piece at a fantastic price is thrilling.  Combing through Craig's List or browsing endless websites can be worth it's weight in gold when you stumble upon exactly what you never knew you always wanted.
When a must-have is discovered,  my mission becomes finding it a home.  While I wish I had the space and financial resources to purchase every deal I stumble upon, the voice of reason, aka my husband, lays down the law.  Therefore to ensure no great find goes unnoticed, I created some new Pinterest boards to keep track of it all.  Below is a sampling from my Cheap Chic and Craig's List Boards.

Checking In

I wrote this post in my head Sunday night, yet somehow I am just getting around to actually typing it...
To say I have a lot going on this week is an understatement.  It's to the point where I can't keep the days or my location straight.  Oh how I long for the lazy days of August.
Yet another pathetic, but honest excuse.
Anyways...
Friday is my birthday. Ugh.
Planning and celebrating other birthdays is fantastic,  however I've never felt comfortable celebrating my own.  I attribute that to my little brother showing up on my 4th birthday.
This year the "cerebration of me," coupled with the fact I am officially in my mid-30's is overwhelming.
Think back to your high school or college days (if you are over the age of 30.)  How did you imagine your future self?  I assumed being a grown-up would feel different.  In reality adulthood feels (pretty much) the same as it did a decade ago.  I suppose my expectations were off the mark.
When I consider all of the idiotic choices I made or ridiculous situations I found myself in, it's almost inconceivable that I was that person. Then I come to the terrifying realization that one day my kids will be teenagers.
Perspective is a funny thing.
